The 2026 Medicare open enrollment window begins Thursday, Oct. 15 and closes Monday, Dec. 7. Seniors and their families have lots of options during this time and can expect calls from all kinds of Medicare Advantage programs.
When selecting a program that’s right for you and your goals, it’s important to understand the unique aspects of PACE programs like PACE Southeast Michigan.
PACE offers wraparound care and cost savings
PACE programs cover a wide range of services based on your individual needs. This can include medical care, specialty care, transportation support, meal support, rehab services, home care, activities and more.
Over 99% of PACE Southeast Michigan participants dually qualify for Medicare and Medicaid, meaning they get the entire suite of PACE services at no out of pocket cost.
Medications are covered and come right to your door
PACE participants have the benefit of not needing to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan. All medications and delivery are covered as part of PACE membership.
Additionally, all 10 of PACE Southeast Michigan’s centers have an on-site pharmacy team to help review medications and work with participants to choose prescriptions that support their needs and goals.
PACE offers more customization than traditional Medicare Advantage plans
Medicare Advantage coverage requires individuals to select a pre-determined plan that may or may not meet all their needs.
But at PACE, care is determined through partnership of you, your loved ones and your care team. As our participants’ insurance plan and care provider, our plans are highly customizable based on individual needs, goals and life circumstances.
How do I know if I qualify for PACE?
PACE Southeast Michigan participants must be:
- Aged 55 years or older.
- Eligible for nursing home level of care as determined by the State of Michigan.
- Living in the PACE Southeast Michigan designated service area (Click here to view service area).
- Be able to live safely in the community with the support of PACE Southeast Michigan services.

What do I do during Medicare open enrollment if I’m already a PACE participant?
If you’re already enrolled in PACE Southeast Michigan, you don’t need to do anything during Medicare open enrollment! Your enrollment will automatically roll over into the next year; you don’t need to sign anything.
If you think you accidentally signed up for another program, call your care team as soon as possible and they will help you.
